Daily Chemical Grade Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose (HPMC)

In daily chemical applications, it is mainly used for thickening, foaming, stabilizing emulsions, dispersing, adhesion, film formation, and improving water retention performance of daily chemical. High-viscosity products are used as thickeners, while low-viscosity products are mainly used for suspension dispersion and film formation.

Product description

Daily chemical grade hydroxypropyl methylcellulose is a synthetic polymer made from natural cellulose as raw material through chemical modification. Cellulose ethers are derivatives of natural cellulose. Unlike synthetic polymers, the basic material for producing cellulose ethers is cellulose, a natural polymer compound. Due to the special structure of natural cellulose, cellulose itself does not have the ability to react with etherifying agents. However, after treatment with swelling agents, the strong hydrogen bonds between and within molecular chains are broken, releasing the activity of hydroxyl groups and converting it into reactive alkali cellulose. Then, through reaction with etherifying agents, the -OH groups are converted into -OR groups to obtain cellulose ethers.

Daily chemical grade special hydroxypropyl methylcellulose is a white or slightly yellowish powder that is odorless, tasteless, and non-toxic. It can dissolve in cold water and organic mixed solvents to form a transparent viscous solution. The aqueous solution has surface activity, high transparency, strong stability, and its solubility in water is not affected by pH. In shampoos and body washes, it acts as a thickener and antifreeze agent, providing moisture retention and good film-forming properties for hair and skin. With the significant increase in raw material costs, using cellulose (antifreeze thickener) in shampoos and body washes can greatly reduce costs while achieving ideal effects.

Characteristics and advantages of Daily chemical grade cellulose HPMC:
1. Low irritation and high temperature resistance;
2. Wide pH stability, maintaining stability within the pH range of 3-11;
3. Enhances conditioning properties;
4. Foaming and foam stabilization, improving skin feel;
5. Effectively improves the flow properties of the system.

Functions of daily chemical grade cellulose HPMC:
In daily chemical applications, it is mainly used for thickening, foaming, stabilizing emulsions, dispersing, binding, film-forming, and improving moisture retention. High-viscosity products use it as a thickener, while low-viscosity products mainly use it for suspension, dispersion, and film formation.
